Worldwise Postgraduate Level 2 – The New Zealand Advanced Course in Travel, Tropical and Geographical Medicine for Travel and Primary Healthcare Practitioners has been endorsed by The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) and has been approved for up to 10.5 hours (= 10.5 credits) CME for General Practice Education Programme Stage 2 (formerly AVE) and Maintenance of Professional Standards (MOPS) purposes.

(Nurses who have attended a Level 1 course are welcome to attend this seminar. Doctors should preferably have an interest, or post-graduate qualifications, in travel medicine)

‘Traveller’s Health’ is a specialisation where Primary Healthcare Practitioners are often the frontline information providers within a community. With the WORLDWISE® Post-Graduate Seminars, Travel Health Practitioners have an exciting opportunity to update, learn and develop new skills in the primary care specialty of travellers’ health.

International Presenters will contribute to make this an interesting and informative platform to update in various current issues in Travel Medicine.

This year, the focus will be around expedition and adventure medicine.

AIMS OF THE COURSE:

  • To promote safe practice in the delivery of health care to intending travellers
  • To advise on current pertinent travel health issues
  • To maintain and upskill in the knowledge of Yellow Fever requirements for the NZ practitioner.
  • An additional “Yellow Fever Certificate of Understanding” will be issued for this aspect of the course)
  • To provide a programme for doctors, nurses and other healthcare practitioners to upskill their knowledge base in travel medicine.
  • To identify when it is vital to refer patients/travellers to specialty services.
